How To Know If Cast Iron Is Hot Enough

In today's video, Mr. Cast Iron demonstrates and explains several ways to know if cast iron is hot enough to cook in. When you preheat a cast iron skillet, there are ways to tell when it is ready. The pan's temperature can be checked as the heat rises if it's been there long enough and is ready. Be careful with these techniques because cast iron will get hot all over the entire skillet, handles, and all. The water test gives me a good idea of how hot the pan is. When it is ready, the water test does provide a good indicator that it is ready to cook in. How do you check yours?
