Popcorn Cooked In BACON GREASE And Cast Iron!!
Popcorn cooked in bacon grease and a cast-iron skillet! Folks, have you ever had popcorn popped in a cast-iron skillet using bacon grease? Well, it's real easy. We've got our cast iron skillet heating up here, and we're going to add about two tablespoons of bacon grease. And then I've got some good old Orville Redenbacher's popcorn! Now years ago, Orville Redenbacher, when he came out with popcorn he always said at the end of his commercials, "try my popcorn," so Orville, we're going to try your popcorn today! All you do, you get your skillet warm. You can see it smoke in there. We got two tablespoons of grease. You just basically want to add just enough popcorn for about one layer worth of kernels in there. And then you want to get your lid on this. We've got a glass lid. A lot of glass lids that fit other types of cookware will fit a cast-iron skillet. So we can sit right here and watch this heat up. Look at that already starting to pop. There's one already! Look at them popping! Now the great thing about cooking popcorn and bacon grease. I mean, the bacon grease itself kind of gives it some added flavor, but it doesn't overpower your popcorn. But boy, it sure does a great job popping it. I mean it nearly every single kernel will pop, too, and it's just amazing how this works in a cast iron skillet with bacon grease! I mean, just look at that! I mean, it's popping completely! And we'll just continue to pop this till we don't hear any more kernels popping. One great thing about this, too, I mean, it cooks them all, and it doesn't scorch your popcorn or anything like that. So I'm gonna go ahead and turn this heat off. You can kind of hear a few more still popping there. And as they begin to, you don't hear any more popping; you know you're pretty much done. So what we're going to do now is, we're just going to get us a bowl here. And we're going to well it's still popping. We're going to take this lid off.
