How To CLEAN A Cast Iron Skillet With SALT!!
How to clean a cast-iron skillet with salt and water. That's the topic for today's video. So let's move on over to the sink, and we'll get started because I've got a real dirty skillet here I need to clean up. So in order to show you how to clean a cast-iron skillet with salt, we've got a dirty skillet here. So what we're going to do we're going to take some coarse salt, and I mean it could be kosher salt or sea salt, or it could be canning salt or even sea salt. We're going to add just a little bit of water to this. We don't want a whole lot of water because we don't want the salt to dissolve. So we'll get a little bit of water in here, and we'll just take our stiff sponge, and we'll just begin to rub around on this and get this baked on and cooked on burnt-on food loosened up with this salt. And salt's real good for this. You know, naturally, I mean, as I always say, it's best to clean your cast iron skillet immediately after you cook. But we didn't. We weren't able to do that. We set it off to the side, and so that's what we ended up with. We got us a mess here. And so, but anyway, we're going to be able to clean it up with some salt. And once you get it all completely rinsed out, then all you're going to really want to do at this point is uh, you know, just like you normally would, you're going to just dry it out. Get you a couple paper towels or whatever. And begin to dry this skillet completely like you normally would. And once we get it all completely dry, then we're going to move it over to the stove and do like we normally do on any other skillet. You know, we just want to basically get it dry, get it on the stove, heat it up, heat any moisture out of this skillet because moisture is what causes rust. And we certainly don't want it to rust. Well, we got this skillet over to the stove, got it dried out and cleaned up, and boy, I'm really pleased with how this thing turned out. So that's how you clean a cast-iron skillet using salt. So you guys take and check this video out right here, and we'll see you over there.
