Sausage And Shrimp Cajun Skillet (You’ll Love It)
In this video, we are making a Sausage And Shrimp Cajun Skillet recipe. If you like cajun food, this is one of my favorite cajun recipes. I suppose you could call it a cajun shrimp and sausage vegetable skillet. It is so easy to make, and the best thing is you can make it all in your cast-iron skillet! We are using sausage and shrimp, cabbage, and mixed vegetables along with various spices. Our mixed vegetables consist of onion, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, zucchini, and sliced carrot. Also, we have cored and sliced a whole head of cabbage into one-inch steak slices. The first thing is to heat our cast iron skillet with about two to three tablespoons of bacon grease and brown our sausage. As that is browning, we saute a pound of shrimp in a quarter stick of melted butter for about two to three minutes per side. Once the sausage and shrimp are done to our liking, we remove those to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Next, we add about a cup of chicken broth to de-glaze the skillet. Then we add our mixed vegetables and cabbage and let those cook down. As the cabbage and mixed vegetables continue to cook, we add in a can of original Rotel. And to this mix, we add in our spices. I use a tablespoon of minced garlic, salt and black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Then we shake on about three to four tablespoons of Tony Chachere's Cajun Seasoning and a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes. Caution! Taste before adding any more as it may get too spicy! Mix all of these ingredients well and simmer down until a good portion of the juices is evaporated. Next, we add our browned sausage and sauteed shrimp to the mixture and give it a good stir. Once all of this has simmered for about fifteen minutes more, scoop out a bowl full and enjoy this fantastic sausage and shrimp creole dish!!
