IIn today's video, Mr. Cast Iron addresses the question of the day: "How long do you bake a cast iron skillet when you're seasoning it?"To season a cast iron pan for the first time, preheat your oven to 450 degrees, which is the ideal temperature. Next, you want to wash and dry it. Use the oil of your choice, but whichever oil you choose, you need to know the smoke point of that particular oil. Make sure you wipe out any excess oil with a paper towel or cloth. Place a baking sheet or aluminum foil inside the stove on the bottom rack to catch any drippings that may drip as it is heating and baking. Without this step, it can cause an oily mess in your oven. Let it bake at this temperature for one hour. After one hour, turn your oven off. What I would like to emphasize here is "do not" take your cast iron out at this point. Leave it to cool down completely before removing it. I usually do this overnight. Then you can repeat this process 2-3 more times and are good to go. ***Visit Our Website At https://www.MrCastIron.com Grab OUR FREE Beginner's Guide To Cast Iron! https://pages.mrcastiron.com/castironbeginnerguide ***Visit Our Cast Iron Store On Amazon https://www.amazon.com/shop/mr.castiron. ***To Help Support Our Channel Through Donations https://paypal.me/greenakersplace ***SUGGESTED YOUTUBE VIDEO AND CHANNEL TOOLS*** Morningfame (1ST MONTH FREE) invitation code https://morningfa.me/invite/MrCastIron Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/referral/ntjgaf/ *** "As an Amazon Associate, this channel earns and benefits from qualifying purchases."
