Can I Use A Chainmail Scrubber On A Cast Iron Skillet (Or Will It Ruin It?)
Jan 18, 2026
This is one of the most common cast iron questions I see. Yes, you can use a stainless steel chainmail scrubber on a cast iron skillet, but there’s a right way and a wrong way. The pan isn’t what you’re going to “ruin.” The only thing you can mess up is weak seasoning, and I’ll show you exactly how to avoid that. For our pans, we use a Lodge chain mail scrubber with a little Dawn dishwashing liquid and warm water for the best results. But you can use it dry if you choose.
